CORAL SPRINGS, Florida – [goingout to=""]Steve LeBrun[/goingout], pride of West Palm Beach earned the first “major” of the season on the Tour last Wednesday. Despite hanging on the verge of elimination after 29 holes, the professional golfer rallied with a course record 61 tying to his 38th Golfslinger victory. To date, this was his foremost achievement since November 2011.

For the last two years, the former baseball MVP (in his team) has been playing on the and PGA tours. His best finish on the PGA Tour was T15th at the John Deere Classic in 2013. In addition, he ranks T83rd in Driving Distance – Driver on the PGA Tour.

But LeBrun almost didn’t make it. On Wednesday, LeBrun was 2 shots outside the 36-hole cut line. Through 11 holes, he fell to a low 33 percent and ties from the initial field of 76, which dropped at two under par 140. LeBrun was trailed by six despite birdying the 12th, 13th, 16th and 18th holes for 67. On Thursday, he got a bogey for 199, winning by single shot, nine birdies with a 10 under 61 on an eagle. Through 54 holes, Lebrun completed an eagle, 16 birdies and 4 bogeys.

[goingout to=""]Chris Scialo[/goingout] and [goingout to=""]Tyler McCumber[/goingout] tied for second place on the prestigious tour. Scialo started off topping the first round but failed to preserve the lead. Both ended with a single shot back of LeBrun. Meanwhile, McCumber made his first Golfslinger event as wait list golfer when a particular player backed out of the event on Tuesday morning.

Steve LeBrun continues to carve a name in the world of golf. His previous to present performances in Golfslinger and PGA Tours made him one of the accomplished golfers in Florida. As for his recent victory, LeBrun earned $10,000 from the $41,040 purse, increasing his career Golfslinger earnings to $116,394.
